Castlepoint Systems has officially been recognised by the Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) as a validated provider of VERS 3-compliant VEO (Victorian Electronic Object) creation capabilities. Castlepoint is now listed on the PROV website as an accredited product, affirming our ability to meet the highest archival and technical standards for digital records transfer and preservation.
Why VERS 3 Matters
The VERS 3 validation program is the Victorian Government’s benchmark for digital recordkeeping integrity. It ensures that VEOs (used to preserve digital records) are both technically valid and archivally sound; capable of capturing complete, authentic and long-term representations of government records. This is not just a technical tick of approval; it’s a rigorous process that ensures vendors meet complex metadata, formatting and archival specifications.
For Castlepoint, achieving this validation means we’ve passed both the technical and archival assessments under the PROS 25/02 Create, Capture and Control Standard and its associated specifications for the new VERS 3. In practical terms, this means VEOs generated using Castlepoint’s platform are now proven to:
- Comply with long-term digital preservation formats
- Include all required metadata and archival structuring
- Be successfully ingested into the PROV Digital Archive
